About the Richmond Municipal Natatorium  [See on Map]

Locally known as "The Plunge," this 1925 structure houses one of the largest salt water swimming pools in the world. The beloved civic space drew Richmond residents of all incomes, ages and physical abilities and, when seismic safety concerns closed The Plunge in 2001, the local community felt its absence keenly. The grant will be used for critical seismic retrofitting. The project is underway and expected to be complete in 2009.
